How to get the best skin for your makeup

Makeup is about so much more than just products—it all starts with your skin. As someone who has personally struggled with texture and breakouts, I know how frustrating it can be when your skin isn’t at its best. It can really affect how you feel, and the last thing you want on your wedding day or any day really, is to be worrying about it.

That’s why I’ve spent years perfecting my approach to skin prep, learning how to enhance different skin types and create a glowing, long-lasting finish that leaves you feeling happy and confident. Here’s what I’ve learned along the way.

Oily skin & the right kind of glow

I used to think that if you had oily skin, you had to completely mattify it to keep makeup in place. But actually, when you understand how to work with your skin instead of against it, you can create a glow in all the right places. The trick is balancing hydration, using lightweight layers, and choosing the right foundation finish. Even on different areas of your face.

Dry or dehydrated skin? No problem.

On the other hand, dry and dehydrated skin needs the right prep to create a smooth, radiant base. The key is a good skincare routine leading up to your wedding especially, plus the right combination of skincare and priming techniques on the day. With a little extra attention to moisture and hydration, your foundation will sit beautifully, feel fabulous and last all day with minimal touch ups.

All about the prep!

The best makeup starts with the best skin. If you need advice on how to prep your skin ahead of your wedding or want to find the right products for your skin type, I’m here to help. I always go through this during your trial and any lessons you book with me!
